I'm officially back in the groove with healthier eating, ya'll. One of my January goals has been to dial it back a bit on the snackies/junk food/sugar + to up my daily protein intake. This week I also started tracking my calories to cut back with a small deficit. After indulging over the holidays, it feels good to start a new routine and eat cleaner.
It's always an adjustment to go from eating whatever you want to being a little more restrictive. I love food and all the yummy things! Once you can get into a consistent routine, though, it becomes so much easier. For me, planning out meals I like to eat but that also fit within my goals makes it manageable. Keeping things simple is also key. If you can focus on what you like (and will realistically eat) and stick with it, it's pretty fool-proof.
Actually having the food you want to eat on hand helps too, lol. Because you all seem to really like my foodie content, here's my mini "healthyish" haul of the week. I mostly grabbed some staples for lunches + dinners at home. I will make breakfast at home some too, however most days I'm running out the door and it's just easier to order something out. I'm not a morning person so I like that I can mobile order when I leave the house and my order is usually ready by the time I get there. I usually stick to egg bites + coffee- it doesn't totally blow up my nutrition for the day and I still feel like I'm indulging a bit!
Most of lunch has been yogurt parfaits + deli meat/cheese. Deli meat is always a controversy but it's easy peasy and packs a big punch for high protein + lower calories. I like to do roll-ups or throw it in some Hero Bread or a Hero tortilla. I also like to add this peanut butter powder in to my yogurt for some extra protein! Dinner is the typical protein, veggies + carb combo. Most of this week that has been Italian grilled chicken, baby potatoes and French green beans. I've also gotten a little more snackie in the evenings from eating less so I picked up a bag of my fave Lesser Evil popcorn. It's seriously so good + a great healthy snack. My two favorites are the Himalayan Gold + Himalayan Sweetness. It tastes great, has healthy ingredients and is a lower calorie/higher volume snack so you can eat quite a bit without killing your calories.
