AUGUST READING LIST [ALL THE FALL VIBES]

I'm diving right on in with Fall for my August Reading List. I'm officially ready- my entire FYP on Tik-tok has been full of leaves, pumpkin donuts + all things autumn for the past week. I've also seen so many fun book recommendations pop up with cozy fall vibes, witchy themes + more. The most recommended one I've seen is by far In the Company of Witches which I've heard has Gilmore Girls vibes. I immediately added it to the top of the list + also came found a few more that sound cute! I'm pretty sure Layla is more spooky than cute but she's been on my TBR for over a year now. I'm hoping I'll finally get to it this year, we'll see!

AUGUST READING LIST

After I finished reading Where the Crawdads Sing last month, I needed a bit of a reading detox for a few days. I thoroughly enjoyed following Kaya's life within a very unique and in many ways, educational storyline. I had never read anything quite like it before and at times I found it to be a bit heavy. I didn't really know what to expect going into it but I worried about her throughout the entire book! Totally sounds crazy but I was definitely on a rollercoaster of emotions. TBH I was relieved when I finally finished it, lol. I went to see the movie after too which I also really liked! I think it's worth watching whether you've read the book or not, however you obviously get a lot more backstory and detail in the book.

I switched gears into the personal growth space so currently I'm tackling How to Win Friends and Influence People by Dale Carnegie but I'm dying to get back into some fun summer reads. With only a few months of summer left, I figured I'd better squeeze in a few more of those now. I haven't decided if I should finish How to Win Friends first or simultaneously start one of these... I think I might do that and just switch back and forth? Some days I'm in the mood for self-help and others not. Here are the ones I'd love to read this month!

+ Hook, Line, and Sinker by Tessa Bailey - This one is a companion novel to It Happened One Summer which I loved. Definitely recommend that one if you're looking for a fun, steamy romance. It was inspired by Schitt's Creek and has a riches-to-rags element to it. Normally I don't go for the companion novels that continue the world/story but with secondary characters, however I loved it so much that I picked up Hook, Line, and Sinker. It Happened One Summer follows the characters of Piper and Brendan whereas Hook, Line, and Sinker is about Piper's sister Hannah and Brendan's friend Fox. I always enjoy Tessa Bailey's novels so I'm going to give it a shot too!

+ Every Summer After by Carley Fortune - Every Summer After intrigues me because it takes place both in the present and over six different summers. My impression is that the story follows a romance throughout these six years which then comes to an end and is later revisited during the present.

+ The Spanish Love Deception by Elena Armas - We all love an enemies-to-lover vibe, right? The Spanish Love Deception definitely has The Wedding Date movie vibes and involves taking a "fake date" to a wedding that will inevitably lead to a forever romance. We love to see it, obviously! I've heard this one is really cute (and a bit steamy) so I'm excited to dive in!

What are you reading right now? I'd love to know!
